Training and Education
In compliance with NSPM-33 guidance, Emory University is required to have a Research Security Program with the following trainings:
- Conflict of Interest and Commitment
- Cybersecurity
- Foreign Travel Security
- Research Security Training
- Export Control Training
ORA, RCRA and OIT are working together to ensure that Emory’s policies and procedures meet these requirements.

Research Security
Research security training requirements for recipients of federal funding awards come from both NSPM-33 and the CHIPS and Science Act. This training module meets the requirements by providing an overview of key elements of a research security program.
Foreign Travel Security
Global Travel Safety & Security Training
This module has been developed by the Global Safety and Security team in the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives for employees traveling internationally on Emory-sponsored business. This module overviews the Emory resources available to support safe and healthy travel abroad as well as guidance for how to respond in an international emergency.
Export Control
Export Control Compliance in Research and Academic Environments
The purpose of this training is to provide a high-level overview of export control regulations and their relevance to Emory's business.
Cybersecurity
Emory Cybersecurity Awareness Training
This required course is intended for all Emory University faculty and staff. The topics covered in this course provide employees with an overview of the most important aspects of cybersecurity at Emory.
Conflict of Interest and Commitment
Research Conflict of Interest and Commitment Training
This course will discusses the policies that require disclosure of outside professional activities related to your Emory responsibilities. Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment policies strike a necessary balance between outside interests and commitments and University responsibilities.
