Cybersecurity and Data Protection

Under the NSPM 33, research organizations are required to apply certain basic safeguarding protocols and procedures. RCRA and OIT are working on ensuring that Emory’s cybersecurity meets these requirements.

Per the NSPM33, researchers supported by or working on a federal research grant will be required to register with a service that provides a digital persistent identifier (DPI) for that individual. DPIs will be incorporated into grant applications and disclosure processes to bolster research security and integrity while reducing the administrative burden. Emory is currently working on implementing the use of ORCID iD as the preferred DPI. Integration of ORCID iD with Compass is currently underway.
