Getting Ahead of Research Misconduct Allegations
Use Plagiarism Detection Software
We encourage the use of iThenticate plagiarism checking service. This service is free and confidential for faculty submitting publications for them or their supervisees (including thesis), sharing data with external organizations, or proposing grants to federal or private entities.
Review PubPeer
Routinely check your published articles for any negative comments in PubPeer that may reflect errors that could be reported as research misconduct allegations.
Respond Promptly to Journal Queries & Clarifications
As many high impact journals are using plagiarism detection and image manipulation detection tools as part of their review processes, there may be an uptick in queries and clarifications from journals. Ensure any clarifications requested by journals on your publications are promptly addressed and responded to prevent these from resulting in research misconduct allegations.
